Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway!

When I think of the 2014 team of interns, I’m reminded of a quote by Meg Cabot: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something is more important than fear; the brave may not live forever but the cautious do not live at all.”2014 TeamAfter having to cancel two former trips, and rerouting our current trip due to terrorist activity in Kenya, it was not without some trepidation that we left the world we knew. But this team was committed! They all felt that the trip was meant to be, despite the challenges. They left behind children, grandchildren, spouses and jobs. Without missing a beat, they dug in and taught, interviewed, bumped around on a lot of dirt roads, and helped with assessments and program evaluation. They also laughed a lot, made kids smile, and were dedicated ambassadors of education. Thank you, Team 2014, for your selflessness, dedication and courage.
