rinda The Deeps of LearningIt was the day for us to interview some of our sponsored students. I made sure I got to interview some of the ones whose sponsors I knew well. Edward Molle: curious, bright, hardworking. He’d been forced to drop out of school because his extreme poverty made it impossible for him to pay school fees. It was a tragic story we heard all too often. He had applied and been approved for a Kenya Keys sponsorship and my friend, Robyn Kimball, had sponsored him for three years. Now I was interviewing him in person.I told Edward that Robyn, in her late 50’s, had returned to school herself. Her family was raised and she wanted to become a nurse, a long-awaited desire. His eyes lit up. “Really?  She can go to school at that age?” These kids simply can’t imagine a life where there are such options. “She is in the deeps of learning!” he says, with awe. Then a smile. “This time I can offer her some advice and encouragement,” he says proudly. And he does:I was very encouraged about how you decided to go to school at an old age at around 50 years. Congratulations my Mum and may the Almighty God shower you with blessings so that you can excel. It can be done, Robyn, nothing is difficult under the sun. You have showed a very good example on this planet and sincerely you have registered a very good record. Continue with the same spirit and you will enjoy the fruit of education. Education is the source of knowledge, wisdom and joy. I appreciate you!   I’ll pass your words on, Edward. I’ll remember your smile. Your awe, your determination, and your wisdom.
